In this age of sweeping social media, it is surprising how often Dan Hagedorn has received inquiries from all over the world over the years from readers who, invariably, have expressed surprise at the difficulty they had experienced in locating information on or acquiring copies of his books and publications. This site will, it is hoped, help address these issues while at the same time provide a form of status report on a number which have either gone out of print, or which have rather become collector's items - as well as describe his seemingly endless, ongoing "projects!"

But it is also Dan's hope that readers who have experienced these difficulties will discover, in viewing the range of his work, that he has consistently endeavored to shed light on many obscure aspects of aviation history, or, as he likes to say, "unloved airplanes" that did indeed go places and do things. It is his determination to honor the designers, builders, crews and maintainers of those often forgotten, wonderful shapes, that has driven his labors of love and respect since the beginning.

Along the way, he has come to describe himself as a "life-long student of the subject," and as a curator at two of the world's leading aviation and space museums, he has labored to describe that, in the final analysis, it is really all about making those connections that are the fabric of the fascinating history of airplanes and aviation. His published work, it is hoped, expresses that, and more."
